| New maintainer for KOrganizer |
August 25, 2004: Cornelius Schumacher, former maintainer of KOrganizer gave over his position to Reinhold Kainhofer. He announced his decision at the KDE-Summit (aKademy) in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
| KOrganizer 3.3 released |
August 19, 2004: In the course of the final release of KDE 3.3, there is also a new release of KOrganizer , which is part of the kdepim module. Go get it at the KDE FTP server.
| First beta of KOrganizer 3.3 released |
July 7, 2004: The first beta version of KOrganizer 3.3 has been released as part of the KDE "Klassroom" release. It has a couple of new features like support for recurring todos and handling of free/busy data. In the groupware area it is now able to access the eGroupware and SUSE LINUX Openexchange servers. In addition to that a lot of bugs have been fixed and further work has gone in improving usability and performance. Get the beta version at the KDE FTP server. KOrganizer is part of the kdepim module. The 3.3 kdepim module is compatible with the KDE framework from version 3.2, so you don't have to upgrade the libraries or the base system to give KOrganizer 3.3 a try.

May 16, 2004: The website of KOrganizer has a new maintainer: Marcus Grassinger. We welcome Marcus and say thanks to Klaus Stärk who has done a great job with maintaing the KOrganizer home page for the last years. Klaus will focus on the german KDE website in the future.
| relevantive: KDE 3.2.0 Expert Inspection, including KOrganizer usability |
March 24, 2004: relevantive AG conducts usability studies or expert inspections of current linux applications every six to nine months. In March 2004, relevantive published a KDE 3.2.0 Expert Inspection. The major concern of this inspection was to evaluate if the problems that were identified in the usability study were improved in the KDE 3.2.0 release. The evaluation was conducted on the basis of the use cases that were utilised in the linux usability study. The report is available for download (in German language only) as PDF document (~ 1.1 MB).

March 18, 2004: When LWN editor Jonathan Corbet was forced to search for an alternative for his beloved "ical" calendar application he examined Evolution, KOrganizer, plan, gDeskCal and GNOME-PIM and found a clear winner: KOrganizer 3.2. He loves it as the only competitive replacement for ical and praises the top-quality job of its developers to create a highly configurable calendar manager with a minimum of unneeded baggage. March 9, 2004: The KDE project today announced the immediate availability of KDE 3.2.1, a maintenance release for the latest generation of the most advanced and powerful free desktop for GNU/Linux and other UNIXes. KDE 3.2.1 ships with lot of bug fixes since KDE 3.2 and is available in 49 languages (now including Bengali, Icelandic, Japanese, Lithuanian, Low Saxon, Latin Serbian and Tajik). Sources and contributed packages are linked on the KDE 3.2.1 info page.

| KDEPIM 3.3 release plan |
January 17, 2004: On January 4, 2004, Cornelius Schumacher published the KDEPIM 3.3 release plan. "This is the plan for the release of KDEPIM 3.3. It will be the first release of the kdepim module independent of the rest of KDE. The main goal is to deliver the features which were almost ready for 3.2 but finally didn't make it into the KDE 3.2 release." You find the complete release plan on the website developer.kde.org.

January 13, 2004: Daniel Molkentin wrote on the dot: "Last year in January, Intevation invited the KDE PIM team to a meeting for a hackfest to their offices at Osnabrück. This was such a great success, that everyone was glad Intevation invited the PIM team a second time exactly one year later to polish and fix up Kontact and its components for the upcoming KDE 3.2 release. Last year the big decision was to make KolabClient the successor to Kontact. This year the plan was to make a a roadmap for future KDE-PIM Development. January 12, 2004: From January 2rd to 5th 2004, KDE-PIM developers met in Osnabrück (Germany) again to discuss about and hack on the KDE-PIM application family. More details are available here.
